Foundation – Overview

It’s time to build the foundation.

The Mini Dome is designed for a pier and beam foundation. While other foundation types can work, a pier and beam foundation is the best choice.

This is the most labor-intensive part of the project.

Tip: Combine as many inspections as possible, since the number of included site visits is limited. Some inspections can't be combined, as they may be prerequisites for others.

Make sure to know which inspections are required in advance, or be prepared to ask for forgiveness if the inspector arrives and an inspection point was missed.

Take photos of everything. Inspectors may accept photos as proof that tasks were completed correctly. If necessary, include a tape measure in the photos for reference.

Expect to spend ~3 weeks doing the work outlined in this chapter.
