A close-up view of the electrical in the Mini Dome.

Electrical – Overview

It’s time to rough in the electrical, which involves the following:

  • Installing the panel
  • Mounting the HRV unit
  • Installing the electrical boxes
  • Wiring the feeder circuit
  • Wiring the branch circuits

The dome's low energy requirements allow for a much smaller panel capacity and fewer circuits than shown in this chapter. What’s shown is an overkill application with increased capacity for a hot tub and additional circuits for redundancy.

Branch circuits as installed in the panel (left-to-right, top-to-bottom):

  • Lighting
  • Upstairs Outlets + TV
  • Fridge / Utility Closet Outlets
  • Downstairs Outlets
  • Microwave Outlet
  • Bathroom Outlets
  • Countertop Outlet #1
  • Dedicated (right) Outlet (HVAC?)
  • Countertop Outlet #2 + Under Sink
  • Countertop Outlet #3
  • Dedicated (left) Outlet (HVAC?)
  • Outdoor Outlets
  • [2 spare breakers]
  • Water Heater (240V - 30A)
  • HVAC (240V - 20A)
  • Hot Tub (240V - 50A)

Expect to spend ~3 weeks doing the work outlined in this chapter.
