Insulation takes up a surprising amount of space. Each bag shown here is enough to fill two wall panels.
Cut the insulation to shape with a serrated blade. Carve the bottom of the mineral wool to match any high spots in the foam, ensuring a flush fit.
Carve channels into the insulation to accommodate in-wall utilities and ensure full cavity fill.
Install insulation one wall panel at a time. Use strapping to hold it in place on steep or over-vertical panels.
Detail shot showing strapping and staples used to secure insulation. The strapping is pulled tight, and the staples are hammered flush.
Fill any small voids behind the struts and studs with remnant insulation. Ensure wall cavities are completely filled with insulation, leaving no air gaps.
Use the scaffolding to install insulation in the higher wall panels.
Continue installing the insulation.
Insulate the exterior walls inside the utility closet. The insulation inside the utility closet can remain exposed and without wall coverings.
Install the bottom strapping on the highest wall panels to prevent the insulation from slipping out during installation.
Wire the light junction boxes while they are still easily accessible.
Finish installing the insulation and strapping. Fill the steel hub voids with remnant insulation.
Congratulations on completing the insulation! If the previous insulation inspection resulted in a partial, now is the time to call for another inspection and have it finalized.
Inspection: Insulation/Vapor Barrier (complete the partial)
