A close-up view of painting the Mini Dome interior walls.

Painting – Overview

It’s time to paint, which involves the following:

  • Caulking the shower
  • Caulking all inside corners
  • Painting the bathroom door
  • Painting the utility door
  • Painting the walls
  • Painting the front door

A white color with a satin sheen was chosen for its simplicity to balance the busyness of the wood paneling. It also closely matched the wall primer color, allowing for a single coat application.

The bathroom door came primed and needed painting to match the wall texture and color. The front door came finished in white, already matching the walls. Its exterior was painted to match the roof.

Paint was applied with a 3/8 inch nap roller, similar to the primer. This created a clean, consistent wall texture that hides minor imperfections and makes future touch-ups easier.

Expect to spend ~2 weeks doing the work outlined in this chapter.
